Terrain: multicultural contemporary dance festival

Celebrating contemporary dance by artists from culturally diverse backgrounds, bringing attention to the exciting range of artists who make up the Victorian dance landscape, Terrain is held biennially and is an opportunity to experience some of the most exciting new dance making in Melbourne.

Thursday 6, Friday 7 & Saturday 8 November, 7pm

New choreographic works by Rakini Devi, Sun Ping & Tina Yong, Lamine Sonko, Rachael Wallis, Feng Feng Wang and Soo Yeun You.

Lighting designer: Dori Bicchierai

Free dance classes

Saturday 8 November from 11am to 4pm Sample free classes in Tai chi, Bollywood, African, Hip Hop and Latin with festival artists and special guests. Suitable for children and adults of all ages, and no experience is required. Check websites for schedule.

Indigenous residency

In partnership with Ausdance NT and Dancehouse

In the 2 weeks leading up to the festival, NT artist Rachael Wallis, a resident of East Arnhem Land, is making new work in collaboration with NT artists Jonathon Munyarryun and Arnold Marika, and Victorian artists. See the outcomes of this exciting residency in the performance season. There will also be a masterclass for all interested Indigenous and non-Indigenous dancers on Friday 7 November 10am-12 noon.
