Thinking Bodies. A dialogue between Robin Grove and Shirley McKechnie

On the brink of its second year, the two Chief Investigators discuss some of the background to their own research interests, and particular features of their study of choreographic cognition as it has developed so far. This dialogue includes references to Anna Smith's Red Rain, a 40-minute ensemble piece for seven dancers (Sheridan Davy, Jade Duffy, Hannah Panelli, Kathleen Skipp, Brooke Stamp, Nicole Steven, and Deirdre Stewart), and to Not Entirely Human, a 20-minute solo created by Sue Healey together with performer/co-choreographer Michele Heaven. A photograph of Michelle Heaven in this work is featured on the home page of this site. The photograph is by Jeff Busby.

Public showings of both Red Rain and Not Entirely Human were aided by grants from the Australia Council. The paper is published here by kind permission of Michelle Potter, editor of Brolga: An Australian Journal About Dance.
