Australian Dance Week

When

The 2009 Australian Dance Week will run from 4 - 10 May.

Where

Dance Week celebrations, co-ordinated by Ausdance, are held annually across Australia in May. All States and Territories present an array of dance performances, provide workshops and forums and encourage community participation in a host of free activities. Regional events are also an important feature of Australian Dance Week.

Who

Dance Week participants range from school children to the elderly, from professional companies to prominent independent artists, and from training institutions to country ballet schools.

Why

Australian Dance Week raises the profile, and focuses on the values, importance, and the many cultural contributions of dance to the Australian community.

Australian Dance Week was begun over 20 years ago with lunch time performances in Sydney, eventually combining with the International Theatre Institutes Dancers' Picnic, an annual event held in Sydney.
