Ausdance NSW quarterly update
June 2007
Ausdance NSW presented an exciting program of workshops and masterclasses led by some of Sydney’s leading independent artists, to celebrate Dance Week 2007 and the 30th birthday of Ausdance. In the regions, the 2007 ConnectEd Arts strategy is targeting the Hunter/Central Coast and North Coast regions and will continue to develop special programs designed to assist artists and arts organisations to work more effectively with the school sector. All ConnectEd Arts programs are fully subsidised by Arts NSW and are provided to participants free of charge.
In Bega, fLiNG Physical Theatre (NSW’s premiere youth dance company) and Eden High School Year 10 drama class were involved in a collaboration called The Territory I Project devised and rehearsed over a ten-week period and supported by Connect-Ed. fLiNG Physical Theatre’s artist-in-residence, Jodie Farrugia, was involved during the final two weeks of production, and Sydney-based choreographer Anton also worked with the company as part of the visiting artist program. In October fLiNG will be taking a touring party of 16 young people to perform Who Will Come To The Rescue? for Western Sydney Dance Action at Parramatta Theatres, and at IPAC Merrigong Theatre Company in Wollongong.
