WDA Global Summit 2008
Conference themes
The 2008 WDA Global Summit focused on four critical issues for the creative arts and culture in the 21st century.
- Mind/body connections
- Sustainability
- Transcultural conversations
- Re-thinking the way we make/teach dance and performance
A four-tiered program was devised to identify and explore these key issues through the notion of dialogues, which underpinned all summit programming.
- Physical Dialogues (International Choreolab & International Masterclasses)
- Dance Dialogues (a program of four facilitated conversations + the eighth Dame Peggy Van Praagh Memorial Address)
- Conference/Performative Dialogues (presentations and forums)
- Networking Dialogues (Global Assembly of WDA)
The four major themes were interpreted through each of the dialogues.
These themes were explored through the lens of one or more of the five WDA networks

- Education and Training
- Creation and Presentation
- Management and Promotion
- Welfare and Status
