This was a three-day event comprising a series of academic and performative presentations and forums which explored the Summit’s key issues and themes. Refereed by international panels of scholars and artists, this was a competitive process, and successful submissions will have the opportunity to be published in the Conference Proceedings as a full refereed paper. There were four formats for these dialogues:
- Scholarly papers which were double blind refereed.
- Panel presentations comprising up to five speakers, presenting a topic from diverse viewpoints
- Postgraduate poster presentations were a priority of this conference, to give higher degree students a platform for their emerging research, through a poster format encapsulating their work to date. This was a valuable opportunity for students to share their investigations with delegates, accompanying discussion with digital footage if relevant.
- Performance presentations was the format designed to privilege the voice of the practising artist. Choreographers and directors and their performers were given up to 40 minutes to present a 15-minute excerpt of their work in a theatre venue with basic lighting support, and a further 20 minutes to introduce concepts and creative processes—verbally and physically—as well as engage in audience dialogue with international delegates in a supportive and inquiring environment. This sharing of work was invaluable for choreographers and directors.
