AYDF 2009

AYDF History

The 2009 Australian Youth Dance Festival (AYDF) spins into Mandurah, Western Australia from Sunday 12 April – Sunday 19 April.

Over 200 young people aged between 15 and 19 years from throughout Australia and overseas will be part of a week of forums, workshops, choreographic activities and performances. The festival is led by a team of professional choreographers, teachers and dancers who will coach the young people in a range of dance styles.

You can see highlights of the festival in the public performance program, presented by Ausdance WA. This program includes performances at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday 15 and Friday 17 April and a FREE outdoor performance on the Mandurah Foreshore on Saturday 18 April at 4pm.

The sixth AYDF is being directed by renowned Australian dance artist Claudia Alessi (nominated three times for an Australian Dance Award!) and has a particular emphasis on physical theatre and outdoor performance. The program not only offers a chance to develop dance technique but also fosters the creative skills important for Australia’s next generation of dance artists.

Alessi has assembled an exceptional team of Dance Leaders who can offer a challenging program of dance activity.

AYDF also offers a program of professional development workshops for dance teachers. Registrations close 20 March.
