Ausdance ACT

Ausdance ACT logo

Ausdance ACT services the national capital and its region and represents a wide range of dance sectors. Membership is open to anyone interested in dance and is offered on an annual basis with three financial levels: single, concession and group. The branch has over 180 members and a voluntary board of management elected annually by the membership. The branch has a special interest in the independent sector, youth, community, in-servicing and professional development for dance teachers.

Events

Ausdance ACT's major events include the annual Summer School, the SmokeFree Youth Dance Festival and an extensive array of Australian Dance Week activities, workshops and celebrations.

SmokeFree Youth Dance festival

SmokeFree Youth Dance festival is a celebration of dance from secondary high schools and colleges across the region. Over three big nights on the main stage at the Canberra Theatre, around 1200 dancers create extraordinary dance works around the theme of 'Time To...' as a highlight of their dance year.

Publications

ACT Dance Directory

The ACT Dance Directory, a comprehensive resource of dance classes,performance groups, artists and dance services in the ACT and surrounding region. It is compiled and published as a community service by Ausdance ACT.

Dance Action Magazine

Dance Action, Ausdance ACT’s member newsletter is published bi-monthly and contains a wide variety of dance related information including upcoming events, interviews, opinion, training, opportunities, funding, news and a whole lot more.

The bi-monthly journal Dance Action is just one of the benefits of becoming an Ausdance Member.

ACT Dance Teacher Register

Ausdance ACT is pleased to introduce a new service called ACT Dance Teacher Register. This is being introduced for individual teachers in response to the high volume of enquiries received from studios seeking teachers.  If you wish to be included on this register please download the ACT Dance Teacher Register Form and return to Ausdance ACT.  If you wish to access this information please contact Ausdance ACT on (02) 6247 9103. This is a free service and will be regularly updated.

*Please note You must possess the appropriate qualifications and/or experience to be listed in the ACT Dance Teacher Register.  Inclusion in the register does not imply the recommendation of Ausdance ACT or the Australian Dance Council - Ausdance Inc.

Other services include

The bi-annual Dance Directory, promotion of and access to dance in the ACT through activities such as the SmokeFree Youth Dance Festival, Australian Dance Week activities and the Summer School.

Membership services include

Dance Action magazine, marketing and profiling opportunities*, grant auspicing*, a video viewing room, onsite access to journals as well as access to National membership services such as the full range of benefits available through the AON Insurance scheme.
