Ausdance ACT
Ausdance ACT services the national capital and its region and represents a wide range of dance sectors. Membership is open to anyone interested in dance and is offered on an annual basis with three financial levels: single, concession and group. The branch has over 180 members and a voluntary board of management elected annually by the membership. The branch has a special interest in the independent sector, youth, community, in-servicing and professional development for dance teachers. EventsAusdance ACT's major events include the annual Summer School, the SmokeFree Youth Dance Festival and an extensive array of Australian Dance Week activities, workshops and celebrations. Summer Master SchoolThe Master School 18 – 22nd January 2010Your chance to spend a week with some of the best and most inspirational dance tutors in the business – Classical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap and Contact Impro. Now with new company level classes in Classical and Contemporary for dancers in tertiary studies, graduates and working dancers. Classes for TeachersAusdance ACT is offering two new classes for teachers from schools and studios in Hip Hop with Marko Panzic and Jazz with Lucy Chambers. There are also opportunities for teachers to observe Classical and Contemporary classes (limited numbers). Australian Dance WeekDance Week celebrations, co-ordinated by Ausdance, are held annually across Australia in May. All States and Territories present an array of dance performances, provide workshops and forums and encourage community participation in a host of free activities. Download the ACT Australian Dance Week program [985KB PDF] SmokeFree Youth Dance FestivalSmokeFree Youth Dance Festival is a celebration of dance from secondary high schools and colleges across the region. Over three big nights on the main stage at the Canberra Theatre, around 1200 dancers create extraordinary dance works around the theme of 'Changes—25 years' as a highlight of their dance year. For teachers, we have provided pdfs of the e-news updates.

It is compiled and published as a community service by Ausdance ACT.
